Although it is raining outside, the huge TBM are digging solid rocks at the construction site of Wulidian Station of the Light Railway No.6. Recently, the phase Ⅰof Chongqing Light Railway No.6 Project are started and will be completed and opened to traffic in 2013. Until then, the operational urban railway traffic in Chongqing will reach up to 4 lines and the number of passengers conveyed will increase from 100,000 per day to more than 2,000,000 per day.
In order to quicken the pace of the construction of urban railway traffic, Chongqing introduced the TBM specially from America which is being used for the 12km test section from Wulidian to Shangyanggou. “We plan to dig in about 20m per day including erecting reinforcing steel and casting concrete with the TBM while it is only 4m to 5m through artificial blasting, not including erecting reinforcing steel and casting concrete,” China Railway Tunnel Group, the contractor of this project said, “the TBM can dig in 1.5m every 40 minutes.”
It is reported that the overall length of the Light Railway No.6 are 60km, starting from the sub urban center---Chayuan of Nan’an District and ending at the North New Town of Beibei District. The overall length of Phase Ⅰ are 23km from Shangxin Street of Nan’an District to Lijia Town of Chongqing New North Zone and will be completed and opened to traffic in 2013 |
