On May 17th, Zhanjiag City Commercial Bank celebrated the grand opening of its Chongqing branch in Chongqing’s New North Zone. Among more than 400 esteemed guests who attended the opening ceremony were Guangdong Province Congress Committee Deputy Inspector and Provincial Labor Union Chair Deng Weilong, Chongqing City Deputy Mayor Zhou Mubing, Zhanjiang City Committee Secretary and City Congress Committee Chair Chen Yaoguang, and Guangdong Province Government Vice-Secretary Li Handong. Also in attendance were leaders from Guangdong province, Chongqing city and Zhanjiang city representing the People’s Bank, National Banking Regulatory Commission, and other related government departments, as well as leaders from Zhanjiang Commercial Bank. Guangdong Province Congress Committee Secretary-General Xu Shaohua also sent in a letter of congratulations.

    The new Chongqing branch is Zhanjiang Commercial Bank’s third branch office to be established, following its success in the opening of its Guangzhou branch last year and its Shenzhen branch March of this year. It is also the first branch location the bank has chosen to open outside Guangdong province, as well as the first branch to be opened by any Guangdong-based commercial bank outside their province. Opening the Chongqing branch is a major step forward on the bank’s strategy for nationalization, and will provide the bank with valuable experience for future nationwide branch establishment.

    From securing the western Guangdong province to expanding into Guangzhou and Shenzhen, from settling the Zhujiang Triangle to spreading out into key cities in the southwest, Zhanjiang Commercial Bank’s bold cross-region operations strategy faces both management and stability risks, but is steadily advancing. The success of its Chongqing branch opening not only extends its services to the nation’s numerous western districts, but also creates a new path for financial and capital exchange between Guangdong province and Chongqing city, as well as a mutually beneficial channel for partnerships between businesses on both sides.
